Game Management Unit 30 spans mountainous to hilly terrain southeast of Artesia in Eddy County along the Texas border, featuring the rugged Guadalupe and Brokeoff Mountains with rocky arroyos and canyons at elevations roughly 3,300 to 7,500 feet. Huntable species include mule deer, elk, pronghorn, Barbary sheep, and cougar, with big-game hunts draw-allocated by season and weapon through NMDGF. About three-quarters of the unit is public land — extensive BLM badlands to the east and the Guadalupe Mountains within Lincoln National Forest — while private holdings line the highways and the northeast corner.
