Salinas Pueblo Missions, in partnership with the park’s 2025 Artist-In-Residence Joyce Geier is excited to host a Sunset Photography Workshop on June 26, offering visitors a unique opportunity to learn about sunset photography with Photographer Joyce Geier! As the 2025 Artist-in-Residence, Joyce contributed beautiful photos of our park highlighting the immense variety of the cultural and natural resources available at Salinas Pueblo Missions. The beautiful landscapes and sunsets for each of our park units – Abo, Gran Quivira and Quarai – make for both unique and captivating photos. This is your opportunity to learn about photography during a hands-on program that will teach you the unique challenges and rewards of photographing sunsets. The workshop, followed by a guided walk with Joyce and park rangers, through several vantage points at Abo will allow participants to practice techniques in real time as the light changes and enjoy the rich colors and striking silhouettes of a New Mexican sunset. This event is open to visitors of all ages and experience levels. Bring your camera or cell phone, comfortable walking shoes, water and snacks! The Artist-in-Residence Program at Salinas Pueblo Missions is a partnership between the park and the Friends of Salinas Pueblo Missions (FSPM). The mission of FSPM is to promote public support for the care, preservation, and educational opportunities of Salinas Pueblo Missions. Programs include: • 30-minute lecture from 2025 Artist-In-Residence Joyce Geier on Sunset Photography • 90-minute Guided Walk and Photo Shoot with Joyce and Park Rangers • At the end of the event, print your favorite photo and take it home as a souvenir!
