Santa Fe brothers Robby and Char Rothschild bring traditions together in their songwriting to create original world folk music, including instruments like the West African kora, Irish bouzouki, trumpet, accordion, and Thracian gaida. Drawing inspiration from Appalachia, Ireland, the Balkans, and beyond, their music is nonetheless deeply connected to New Mexico. Joined by long time bassist and collaborator Jon Gagan, their sound is at times rhythmic and propulsive, at times introspective, and always soulful. Char and Robby’s musical journey together began with the band Lizard House, a Santa Fe pop phenomenon of the 1990’s. Subsequent projects as backing musicians included the Afro funk band Panjea, Irish trio The Selkies, and the Reverend Carol King Kong. In 2002, the brothers began as a duo playing their own music - busking in the old Santa Fe farmers’ market in the early mornings of summer. By 2004 they had released their first record, enlisted Jon Gagan as their bassist, and begun to tour. At their gigging peak, they played 150 gigs a year, regionally and on both coasts. After a hiatus of 5 years, they returned in 2023, following the need to heal themselves with music, which has not abated to this day. Dinner and cocktails starting at 5:30 pm. Showtime is 7:00 pm.
